Court Denies Bail To Kannada Actor Ranya Rao In Gold Smuggling Case

Bail plea of Kannada actor Ranya Rao was rejected on Friday by the Economic Offences Court in a case involving gold smuggling. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) reported that they confiscated gold bars valued at Rs 12.56 crore from Rao at Kempegowda International Airport. She had arrived from Dubai on March 3 when the seizure took place.

Ranya Rao, who is the stepdaughter of senior IPS officer Ramachandra Rao, was found with the gold bars during a routine check at the airport. Her stepfather currently holds the position of Chairman and Managing Director at the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.
The bail plea for Tarun Konduru, another individual implicated in this case, is scheduled for March 15 at 3 pm. This hearing will determine whether Konduru will be granted bail or remain in custody as investigations continue.
The incident has drawn significant attention due to Ranya Rao’s connection to a high-ranking police official. The authorities are investigating further to uncover more details about the smuggling operation and any potential involvement of others.
