Gangster Aman Sahu Killed in Police Encounter: A Look at His Criminal Empire

Jharkhand’s most wanted gangster, Aman Sahu, who began his criminal career at just 17 years old, was killed in a police encounter while being transported on remand.

More than 100 criminal cases were registered against him, including extortion, murder, and organized crime.

How Did the Encounter Happen?

Aman Sahu was being brought to Ranchi from Raipur (Chhattisgarh) by police for interrogation.

While traveling on the Chainpur-Ramgarh road (Palamu district), the police vehicle met with an accident.

Seizing the opportunity, Sahu snatched a policeman’s rifle and tried to escape.

He opened fire at the police, forcing them to retaliate, leading to his death.

A Reign of Terror in Jharkhand

Aman Sahu was notorious for extortion, murder, and targeted killings, particularly in Jharkhand’s coal and real estate sectors. Some of his major crimes include:

Shooting at coal trader Vipin Mishra in Ranchi’s Bariatu area.

Killing NTPC DGM Kumar Gaurav at his residence in Hazaribagh.

Extorting businessmen, transporters, and contractors through threats and violent attacks.

A Social Media Gangster

Aman Sahu used social media to announce his crimes, spread terror, and claim responsibility for attacks. His gang operated with an organized network that executed murders and extortions on his behalf.

Transferred Across Multiple Jails

Due to his influence and security threats, Aman Sahu was transferred to six different jails over the years. In October 2024, he was shifted from Chaibasa Jail to Raipur Jail for security reasons.

Political Aspirations Cut Short

Despite his criminal background, Aman Sahu wanted to contest elections and had even purchased a nomination form to contest from the Barkagaon Assembly seat. However, the court denied him permission to run.

End of an Era of Fear

His death in the police encounter marks the end of a long reign of terror in Jharkhand. With over 100 criminal cases, Aman Sahu was a key figure in organized crime, and his elimination is seen as a significant victory for law enforcement.
