Free Ration for Millions to End from January 1, Ration Cards Will Become Useless, Government Gives Reason
There are only 6 days left for the new year to begin. In such a situation, everyone is eagerly waiting for the new year, i.e., 2025. However, this new year will bring a shock for some people.
The government has taken action against fraudsters, and now it has been decided to permanently end such schemes.
It should be noted that around 80 crore people in the country are currently benefiting from free ration.
However, among them, there are millions who are not actually entitled to it, and those who truly need the free ration are being deprived of its benefits. This is why the government is identifying fake ration cardholders through EKYC and other methods. On January 1, 2025, millions of ration cards will be discarded.
Announcement of Free Distribution of 10 Kitchen Items.
Recently, the government announced the free distribution of 10 kitchen items along with wheat, chickpeas, and sugar. But the number of fake ration cards is increasing. According to reports, the poverty alleviation scheme is one of the government’s ambitious plans, which was launched during the COVID period.
However, now there are signs of fraud in this scheme. As a result, the government is identifying fake ration cardholders through various means, and soon action will be taken against them. This is being done so that action can be taken against the concerned individuals.
Such Cards Will Be Canceled
Currently, 80 crore people in the country are benefiting from the free ration scheme. However, millions of people who are ineligible are still availing of the benefits. According to a report, it has been revealed that there are millions of people in the country who are taxpayers but still receiving free ration.
They even come in four-wheelers to collect free wheat. Similarly, efforts are being made to identify ration cardholders so that fraud can be eliminated from the scheme, and those who truly need it can receive the benefits.
eKYC Also Mandatory
The government has now issued instructions to all ration cardholders to complete e-KYC. Earlier, the deadline was set as June 30.
However, this date has now been extended to September 30. If ration cardholders do not complete the eKYC by September 30, such cards will also be canceled. Therefore, it is necessary for all beneficiaries to complete their ration card eKYC on time. Otherwise, they may be deprived of the benefits of the scheme.
