Accidental fire at Nalco plant
Angul – A terrible fire broke out in the Green Anode Plant (GAP-2) of the smelter plant of the Nalco Aluminum plant in Angul district and sub-division on Thursday. According to information received, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. It was reported that the fire took place at around 8.10 pm. Nalco CPP and all the steam vehicles of the smelter reached the spot after receiving the information and doused the fire after about 1 hour. In view of the impending danger, CISF fire brigade extinguished the fire after immediately cutting off the power to the plant. The place where the fire took place has been cordoned off. Nalco GGM, Safety Department Officer has investigated the incident at the scene. However, it has been reported that the workers were safe despite the massive damage caused by the fire.
