US election results: Trump wins 19 electors in Indiana, Kentucky; Harris 3 in Vermont

The first states in the 2024 US presidential election have been called by CNN and Associated Press. Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris has won Vermont and Republican nominee Donald Trump has won Kentucky and Indiana, as per CNN and AP’s projections.

Vermont carries three electoral votes, Kentucky carries eight, and Indiana carries 11 electoral votes.

While President Joe Biden won Vermont in 2020, Trump won Kentucky and Indiana in 2020.

As things stand, in the 538-member Electoral College, Trump is ahead with 19 electors compared to Harris’ 3. They need 270 electors to win.
