CMD Shri B.P. Singh Inaugurates “Green CPP, Clean CPP” Campaign at NALCO CPP

 

Angul, 29/01 – The Captive Power Plant (CPP) of NALCO embarked on a remarkable journey towards environmental sustainability and operational excellence with the launch of the year-long campaign, “Green CPP, Clean CPP — Our Responsibility, Our Commitment.” This initiative was inaugurated by the esteemed Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, and Director (Production), Shri Pankaj Sharma, during their visit to the plant.The inauguration began with the symbolic planting of a Rudrakshya tree near the main canteen premises, a gesture that reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to green initiatives. The campaign, spearheaded by Nalco Shramik Congress Union, the Recognized Union, under the leadership of its president, Shri Santosh Kumar Rout, and working president, Shri Hemant Kumar Pradhan, will be implemented throughout the year to drive environmental and operational improvements.During the visit, Shri Singh shared lunch with union representatives in the main canteen, showcasing an inclusive approach to leadership. This gesture reinforced the bond between the management and employees, inspiring a sense of unity and belonging among the CPP workforce.The Recognized Union also took the opportunity to discuss key employee and plant-related concerns with the CMD. Issues such as providing laptops to non-executive employees, enhancing mobile handset reimbursements, revising the promotion framework, and introducing uniform policies for female employees were highlighted. Additionally, operational challenges like modernizing outdated units, improving coal management practices, expanding facilities, and upgrading safety protocols were discussed. The union also emphasized the need for better workplace amenities, such as a 24-hour canteen service, a first-aid center with medical staff, and a centralized communication system for employees.The campaign has gained momentum with the active support of several key union members, including Shri Ashok Behera, Arta Trana Samal, Dinabandhu Mishra, Malay Nayak, Sasmita Nayak, Mukta Mary Minz, Sanju Gochhayat, Sandhya Amant, Rupali Sahu, Harekrishna Nath, Nagesh Deo, Sanjay Bhutia, Trinath Mahapatra, Tikan Dehury, Suresh Amant, Jatin Samal, Ghanshyam Das, Ranjit Samal, Susant Bhuyan, Dipak Santra, Subas Naik, and Gati Krushna Behera. Their collective efforts highlight the commitment to ensuring the campaign’s success.Expressing his gratitude, Shri Bibhab Jena, General Secretary of the Recognized Union, stated, “The CMD’s active involvement in this initiative reflects his commitment to addressing employee concerns and driving sustainable growth.
