IND vs AUS: Did Irfan Pathan Confirm Rohit Sharma Being Dropped From Sydney Test? Latest Tweet Sparks Speculation
IND vs AUS 5th Test: After Gautam Gambhir dropped a huge bombshell during the pre-match press conference, reports are coming thick and fast that India captain Rohit Sharma is likely to miss the final Test.
The India coach was tight-lipped when it comes to revealing whether Rohit will be in the playing XI or not has sparked a huge frenzy all over social media platforms.
Gambhir hinted at the possibility of Rohit Sharma not being part of the playing XI for the Sydney Test but stopped short of confirming it. He stated that the decision on the final XI would depend on the pitch conditions assessed on match day.
“Everything is fine with Rohit and I don’t think it’s anything traditional. The head coach is here and that should be good enough. We are going to have a look at the wicket and finalise (the team) tomorrow,” Gambhir said at the PC.
“The answer remains the same”, he further added when asked again about Rohit’s inclusion.
Now former India cricketer, Irfan Pathan’s latest tweet have somehow made this look clear.
Pathan has extended his support to Rohit, who is going through a tough phase, when it comes to churning out runs for his team. Speculations of his retirement are also active and it looks like that he might also miss out the final test.
”In my personal opinion, Rohit sharma should fight out this phase. I don’t want him to walk out of this. He has done enough for Indian cricket, and i am sure he has the ability to turn this around. This is the last and a crucial test match of the series, and experience should come in handy. Whatever decisions required to be made should come out after the series”, the former all-rounder wrote on X.
This is a crucial Test in all likelihood as India look to salvage a draw and retain the BGT title to keep their WTC final hopes alive.
