God has no caste: Supreme Court
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday made a significant remark that God has no caste. The apex court made the remark while considering petitions concerning the appointment of non-traditional trustees at the Thirunavaya Vairankode Bhagavathi Temple.
The court made this remark when an argument was raised claiming that considering caste based solely on the opinion of the tantri would be detrimental to backward communities. The bench, consisting of Justices MM Sundresh and Aravind Kumar, stated that caste should not be a factor in trustee appointments.
The Malabar Devaswom Board had appointed Vinod Kumar, Pramod, Dileep, and Babu as non-traditional trustees of the temple. The High Court had annulled this appointment. Following this, they approached the Supreme Court.
