Bomb Threats Rock Delhi Schools: DPS RK Puram, GD Goenka Evacuated

Two schools in Delhi-one located in RK Puram and the other in Paschim Vihar received bomb threats via email on Monday morning, sparking panic and prompting immediate evacuation measures.

Students were sent home as school administrations coordinated with authorities to ensure their safety.

Quick Response from Authorities

Delhi Police, along with the Fire Services, were promptly informed of the threats. Teams, including the bomb disposal squad and dog squads, were deployed to thoroughly inspect the school premises. According to officials, the searches were comprehensive, but no suspicious items were found at the time of reporting.

The email threat disrupted the routine of both schools, occurring during the busy morning hours when buses were arriving, parents were dropping off their children, and staff were preparing for the day. The quick action of school authorities ensured that students were evacuated without incident.

Pattern of Threats in Delhi Schools

This incident is part of a troubling trend of bomb threats targeting educational institutions in the city. Just last week, Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini received a similar email threat, which was later determined to be a hoax. That threat came shortly after a low-intensity explosion in Prashant Vihar, within one kilometre of the school premises.

In October, several schools under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Delhi and other parts of the country were also targeted with email threats, all of which were found to be false alarms. Despite this, the frequency of these incidents has raised concerns among parents, students, and school administrators.

Parallel Incident in Uttar Pradesh

In a related development, three high-profile locations in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, were subjected to bomb threats over the weekend. An unidentified caller to UP Police’s emergency response centre claimed that bombs had been planted at Hussainganj metro station, Charbagh railway station, and Alambagh bus stand.

Manish Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), confirmed that extensive searches at all three locations revealed no explosives, labeling the threats as hoaxes.

Authorities Remain Vigilant

While no credible threats have been identified in either Delhi or Uttar Pradesh, the repeated incidents highlight the need for increased vigilance and swift action. Schools and public locations across the region are reviewing their security protocols to prevent panic and ensure public safety.

Delhi Police have assured parents and the public that all necessary precautions are being taken and that investigations are underway to trace the origins of these threats.
