Protest Against Violation of Fundamental Rights and Guidelines of the Recognized Union
Angul/Nalco – The recognized union, Nalco Shramik Congress Union, under the affiliation of INTUC, staged a mass demonstration at the office of Group General Manager, CPP, Mr. Amrendra Mishra, protesting against the violation of its fundamental rights and established guidelines.
It is noted that in the recent recognition election, the INTUC-affiliated Nalco Shramik Congress Union emerged victorious, which was officially approved by the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, on 08/11/2024. Recognized unions in public sector enterprises are legally provided to protect employee rights and ensure fair representation under guidelines set by the Government of India.
As per law, management is obligated to address all employee-related matters through discussions with the recognized union. However, the CPP management, allegedly under political pressure, has been violating these provisions, undermining the union’s role and bypassing its authority.
In response, the Nalco Shramik Congress Union has staged a strong protest through a mass demonstration. General Secretary of the union, Mr. Bibhab Jena, stated that unless the anti-worker approach of the CPP management is corrected, the protest will continue. Additionally, the union plans to escalate the matter to the Central Chief Labour Commissioner for intervention.
