This development follows the success of Vande Bharat chair cars in the state, which have become a popular choice for travelers.

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are designed for long-distance journeys ranging from 800 to 1,200 km and have a total seating capacity of 823 passengers. The configuration includes 11 three-tier AC coaches, four two-tier AC coaches and one first-class coach. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the first Vande Bharat sleeper train will commence operations in 2025, following a two-month trial run. Kerala is hopeful of being included in the first batch of these trains, especially with the announcement of ten sleeper trains slated for next year.
