The oldest trade union of Nalco, Nalco Shramik Congress Union, celebrated its 43rd Foundation Day at the Nalco Training Center Auditorium with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, a heartfelt tribute was paid to the founder, Mr. Ramesh Chandra Jena, on behalf of the union, which recently secured recognition in the CPP election.
Dr. Ramachandra Khuntia, an internationally acclaimed trade union leader and President of INTUC Odisha, graced the event as the chief guest. He shared his 40-year-long association with Mr. Jena, praising his unmatched contributions to Odisha’s labor movement and highlighting his pivotal role in labor welfare. Dr. Khuntia raised concerns about the current challenges faced by public sector enterprises and urged the authorities to prioritize employment, investment, plant expansion, and the welfare of contract workers.
The event was enriched by the presence of Mr. Subramanyam Narella, Executive Director of Smelter and Power Complex, who served as the keynote speaker, and Mr. Amrendra Mishra, GGM, CPP, as the honorable guest. Other distinguished attendees included Mr. Satyabadi Mishra (GGM), Madan Mohan Dhal (Vice President, INTUC Odisha), Kishor Jena (General Secretary), Sri P.K. Sahu (General Manager, CPP), Smt. Sasmita Behera (Advisor), Sri Rajib Jena (Trade Union Leader), Dillip Mishra, and Sri Nirmal Kumar Samal (NES President), who all shared their thoughts on this momentous occasion.
In his address, Sri Bibhab Jena, General Secretary of the recognized union of Captive Power Plant (CPP), expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their unwavering support during the CPP recognition election, marking the union’s sixth consecutive victory. He reaffirmed the union’s dedication to the welfare of employees and the growth of Nalco.
The union also welcomed Sri Ajay Nayak and Sri Ranjit Samal as new members, further strengthening their team. The President, Sri Santosh Raut, reiterated the union’s commitment to serving workers with dedication and purpose.
The celebration also featured a warm welcome speech by Sri Hemant Pradhan, stage management by Sri Malay Nayak, and a vote of thanks delivered by Sri Bijay Pradhan. The event concluded with active participation from several union leaders and members, including Sri Nageshwar Behera, Pradeep Sahu, Sushil Sahu, Tikan Dehury, Artatran Samal, Bapu Bhanja, Daktar Sahu, Sanjay Bhutia, Hari Nath, Ghanshyam Das, Nagesh Deo, Dinabandhu Mishra, Bishnu Sharma, SS Behera, Pankaj Moharana, Gunduram Marandi, Monu Singh, Sautan konar, Siddhant Pradhan, Vikash Jayswal were among cooperated.
