Angul, 16/11- District level National Press Day has been celebrated this morning at the Municipal Town Hall under the chairmanship of Additional District Collector Mr. Pratap Pritimay. ‘Media’s changing form’ is the theme of this year’s National Press Day. In the beginning, the program of the meeting was started by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, the Additional District Magistrate said that the role of the media in the country’s freedom struggle is unique, and the media has played an important role in the progress of the country since its inception. By carrying out its responsibilities properly, the media contributes to the development of society and creates a positive environment. The Additional District Magistrate highlighted various developmental initiatives being implemented by the government for the media representatives. Media is a source of knowledge that benefits all sections of the society, He also said. Prof. Shananthu Kumar Sara, retired Principal of Angul Autonomous College, joined the meeting as the honorable speaker and said, “Despite the various changes, we are the vigilance watch of the democracy and we need to get the right information to the people.” Bringing and presenting the truth to the public is the basic mantra of journalism. Therefore, he called upon all the media to follow the basic mantra of representative journalism and establish a healthy democracy. Dr. Dharanidhar Nath, Retired President of Madhyamik Shishak Parishad, as the keynote speaker, spoke in detail about this year’s Barva on ‘Changing Shape of Media’. In the recent new digital/artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence) era, he highlighted the importance of serving accurate information to the masses using various tools. The chief speaker informed that today is being celebrated as Press Day as the Press Council was formed on this day. He also opined that the media acts as a bridge between the government and the public and creates a healthy public opinion. The meeting was attended by District Information and Public Relations Office staff, among others, journalists from the district and sub-district levels.
